When I arrived at the hotel I was suppose to stay at they were booked up. They paid for a taxi to and from this hotel and had booked the room for me, it was better than the one I was suppose to be at.
Ata Hotel Villa Pamphili, Via della Nocetta, 105 00164 Roma, Italy.
It has shuttle service to and from the Vatican every hour until 10:00 pm.

Question by Emma: travelling solo to Rome?
So I really just want to go away even if it’s for a short period of time. I’ve found cheap flights from Canada to Rome but none of my friends can go its for next week so short period of time but I’m only 18 years old and travelling alone in Italy sounds terrifying. I’m originally from England so have been a few places in europe but never to Italy! Any advise? also im trying to find a hotel/hostel that would be safe but inexpensive and would let me book last minute!!!!

I understand that you want to see Italy but why alone? Why don’t you wait some time until one of your friends will be available to come with you? I think that there is nothing to worry about but you will feel bored and you will not enjoy the beauty of Italy. To sum up I advise you to wait and go there with a couple of friends so that you can take the most of your stay in Italy!

For cheap accommodation use http://www.hostels.com/ they provide booking service worldwide. And there are you will find very useful user reviews, cause sometime very cheap hostels mean not very pleasant and not too safe ))
Nothing really to be scared of, there are thousands of people in the streets almost everywhere you go. Just do your sightseeing during the day (the subways are excellent) and be back at your hotel at night and you should be fine.
Well traveling alone for some people can become a great experience, as far you take extra careful when visit Rome just go for it, Rome is tourist destination, which meant there is no problem if you can’t speak Italian, but beware of pickpocket, this is common issues for people who visit Rome.
I think book last minute is not a wise decision,take so many review for internet to find the best hotel on people opinion, visit http://www.tripadvisor.com/ would be helpful. If you are not find any hotel suite your needs, I suggest to consider to stay in apartment as another option, you can use http://www.lodjee.com/rome to search vacation rental in Rome
I’m going to Rome next month (also a girl, also 18 and also solo) but I couldn’t be more excited, I’m soo happy. It’s dangerous everywhere, so fear shouldn’t stop you from doing something you really want.
I’m going for seven days to Rome, Florence and hopefully Sienna.
I booked my hostels recently so I would have plenty of time but i’m sure you can find something short notice.

Anyway have fun, oh and if you want to go to see the Vatican, you have to pre-book it. And as for people pickpocket’s, i’m sure they cant really get you, if you have a brain and don’t flash you’re money around and stuff, I’m buying one of those wallet things that you can put around your neck and going to keep most of my money on my credit card.
I’m sure you’ll have a great time and i doubt it’s possible to get bored in Rome, soo much history, I cant wait.
